Julia Cosgrove, soprano, is happy to be returning to perform the Messiah with the Zeeland Civic Chorus. Although Ms. Cosgrove has sung many operatic roles, she most enjoys oratorio singing. Oratorio appearances include Haydn’s The Creation with the Marion Philharmonic of Marion, IN and Brahms’ Requiem with the distinguished Handel and Haydn Society of Boston. Julia has performed roles including Gretel (Hansel and Gretel), Emily (Menotti’s Help, Help the Globolinks), Despina (Cosi Fan Tutte), Rosina (Barber of Seville), Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro), Lucy (The Telephone), The China Teacup, Shepherdess (L’Enfant et les Sortilèges) and more. Ms. Cosgrove holds a master’s of music in vocal performance from the New England Conservatory and a B.M. in performance from Taylor University. Julia maintained a private studio in Boston and has previously taught at Cornerstone University, Grand Rapids Community College and Hope College. She is the mother of three children and is currently using her gifts as Director of Care Ministries at First Reformed Church in Holland.
